Im pretty late to the game with this blend but finally picked up a tin. From a moisture standpoint, most will find this pipe ready straight away. worth three times the price or maybe more. I say fairly smooth only because the much appreciated earth and spice continually underscores the inherently tangy sweetness of the reds. My whole mouth feels abused. I normally love Virginias but this one didn't do it for me. Leaves little dampness in the bowl, and requires a couple more than an average number of relights. 3.5 stars. If you like to sit outside and probe the complex intricacies of interesting tobacco, I can't recommend it. 3 1/2 stars. The blends differ in smell and taste, and the aftertaste is different. I was hoping it would stay on the lighter, brighter side of the Virginia spectrum, but that's okay. The word Small Batch is white, bold and large on the labeleasily read. The tobacco is initially rough on the palate, but not harsh, not biting. There's a clarity and smooth, natural flavor that I absolutely love. I got an aftertaste that lingered for an hour that reminded me of a cheap Connecticut wrapped cigar.
